Minister of Social Affairs responds to child exploitation video with legal action

Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs and State Minister for Youth Affairs Dr. Amal Al-Huwail has directed the filing of a report with the Public Prosecution regarding the incident of exploiting a child.

Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs and State Minister for Youth Affairs Dr. Amal Al-Huwail has taken a firm stance against a recent incident of child exploitation.

A video circulating on social media has caused outrage. The video depicts a child under the age of ten bound with ropes and forced to drag a vehicle with his body. This act constitutes clear physical torture of the child.

Minister orders investigation

Dr. Al-Huwail has directed the filing of a report with the Public Prosecution to investigate this incident. Her goal is to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

Furthermore, Dr. Al-Huwail has directed the Supreme Council for Family Affairs to take necessary steps to protect children from violence and exploitation. This includes implementing measures aligned with the law and the Council’s jurisdiction.

The Law of the Rights of the Child (Law 21 of 2015) guarantees a child’s right to life, survival, development, and protection from all forms of violence or harm. This includes physical, mental, sexual abuse, neglect, and other forms of exploitation.

Article 6 (paragraph 3) of the law emphasizes the state’s responsibility to ensure a healthy and clean environment for children and to counter practices harmful to their health.

Psychological abuse is also addressed in the law. Article 71 defines it as imposing destructive behavior on a child by forcing them to bear responsibilities beyond their capabilities.

Minister calls for action

Dr. Al-Huwail has emphasized the need for comprehensive measures to combat violence against children and protect them from exploitation. She has also called for increased awareness of children’s rights within society.
