Minister Noura Al-Mashaan to monitor post-rain response in Kuwait

Emergency teams are present around the clock in critical places, conducting tours and inspections to ensure there is no accumulation of rainwater.

While emergency teams at the Ministry of Works are addressing water accumulations in certain areas following the rain, sources in the ministry informed Al-Rai newspaper that the Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, will meet with ministry officials in the operations room immediately after the Cabinet meeting ends to follow up on the weather situation.

The sources indicated that emergency workers are addressing light accumulations of rainwater at the police station roundabout in Jahra, parts of Muhammad bin Al-Qasim Street and Canada Dry Street in Shuwaikh, as well as Schools Street in the Farwaniya area, using water pumps.

Sources explained that the highway lanes are still passable, noting the presence of ministry officials in the operations room to monitor the rain situation and direct emergency teams in the field.

The official spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works, Engineer Ahmed Al-Saleh, said that the country is witnessing a wave of moderate-intensity rain, expected to intensify in the coming hours. Al-Saleh added in a press statement that the emergency teams of the ministry and the General Authority for Roads and Land Transport are present around the clock in critical places, conducting tours and inspections to ensure there is no accumulation of rainwater.

Al-Saleh appealed to citizens, residents, and vehicle drivers to exercise caution when driving on the roads, urging them to dispose of construction and tree pruning waste properly to avoid negatively affecting the efficiency of rainwater drainage holes. He also advised everyone to disregard rumors and obtain information from official sources.

In case of heavy rain, the ministry and relevant authorities in the country will collaborate under the umbrella of civil defense. Al-Saleh recommended that vehicle drivers adhere to the instructions of the General Traffic Department and report any complaints to hotline No. 150 or the ministry’s electronic application, as well as through the ministry’s social media accounts.
