• The goal of investing in Sabah Al Salem University City is to generate budget-friendly income sources that help ease the financial burdens on the state and create revenue for the university that can be utilized, said Dr. Osama Al-Saeed, Acting Director of Kuwait University.

Dr. Nader Jalal, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Acting Minister of Education, emphasized the importance of boosting university revenues by inviting investment in Sabah Al Salem University City, in coordination with regulatory authorities, to enhance Kuwait’s resources, according to Al Qabas newspaper.

This was stated in a press statement issued by Kuwait University following Minister Jalal’s visit to Sabah Al-Salem University City, marking his first visit to an educational institution.

For his part, Dr. Osama Al-Saeed, Acting Director of Kuwait University, stated to the newspaper that Dr. Nader Al-Jalal’s directives on investing in Sabah Al-Salem University City will be implemented through a study to identify all available investment opportunities. He noted that there are large areas on campus and various facilities that can be utilized in accordance with the relevant regulations and laws in the country.

Al-Saeed pointed out that the goal of investing in the university is to generate budget-friendly income sources that help ease the financial burdens on the state and create revenue for the university that can be utilized.
He noted that one of the most significant potential investment opportunities is to allow external parties to utilize university facilities, such as conference centers, theaters, sports halls, and stadiums, by renting them out for financial compensation to host forums and activities that align with the academic mission.

He also mentioned that the university had previously proposed investment ideas, including establishing a holding company tasked with investing in university properties and providing opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises to invest in these sites.

He indicated that the minister’s meeting was an initiative to revive these ideas, emphasizing that this direction aligns with the government’s commitment to supporting youth and their projects while alleviating the burden on the public budget.

Al-Saeed further stated that the minister’s meeting with the university leaders also addressed topics related to academic affairs, particularly the goal of improving Kuwait University’s ranking by focusing on evaluation criteria such as scientific research and methods to develop and support it.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of increasing student admissions and proactively creating new academic specialties aligned with the needs of the renewable labor market and the requirements for development in the State of Kuwait.

Al-Saeed added that the meeting with the Minister of Education and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research focused on fostering collaborative environments with the authorities supporting the educational process in Kuwait and establishing agreements to encourage support for academic work and scientific activities.
