Minister Bushehri forms new green development committee

The Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy appoints Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Governor of Al-Ahmadi, as head of the newly formed Supreme Committee for Green Urban Development Initiatives.

Supreme Committee for Green Urban Development will assess green spaces and cosmetic crops across the State of Kuwait.

The committee will assess green development and cosmetic agriculture initiatives from the private sector for feasibility, national identity, and security.

 

Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, has appointed Sheikh HamoudJaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Governor of Al-Ahmadi, as head of the newly formed Supreme Committee for Green Urban Development Initiatives, according to Q8-Press.

The committee includes various relevant government agencies, state institutions, and private sector entities, such as the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature, the Public Authority Of Agriculture Affairs And Fish Resources, the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Public Works, the Public Authority for Housing Welfare, the Public Authority for Roads & Transportation, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Interior, Kuwait University (Faculty of Architecture), the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, the Union of Kuwait Banks, the Union of Investment Companies, the Center for Voluntary Work, the Union of Cooperative Societies, and other interested parties.

The committees work focuses on the following:

  • Diagnosing the current state of green spaces (parks and public parks) in all residential areas and border ports of the State of Kuwait, as well as cosmetic crops along main and circular roads, and bridges in important strategic locations.
  • Evaluating initiatives submitted to the committee on green urban development and cosmetic agriculture by private sector institutions and entrepreneurs, considering their applicability and preservation of national identity while addressing security aspects.
  • Proposing applicable developmental initiatives and projects related to green urban development and cosmetic agriculture.
  • Engaging with the private sector and companies working in green urban development and cosmetic agriculture to support financially and technically feasible initiatives.

In this context, the Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy chaired the committee’s first coordination meeting with the Governor of Al-Ahmadi and other members, reviewing the priorities for the next phase.

The meeting emphasized the need for concerted efforts to achieve the desired goals, which, if accomplished, will positively impact sustainable development in the State of Kuwait.
