Minister Al-Huwailah highlights GCC plans to combat human trafficking
Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, stressed safeguarding workers’ rights, boosting private-sector employment, and aligning with global changes to enhance Gulf well-being.

Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, emphasized the need to align with global economic and social changes while balancing development goals with workers’ rights to enhance community well-being across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), reported Al Jarida newspaper.
Speaking at the 11th GCC Labor Ministers meeting, which she chaired on behalf of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, Al-Huwailah highlighted key discussion topics, including boosting nationalization and private-sector employment policies, developing platform economy and green jobs, and protecting working women’s rights in maternity and caregiving.
She also noted that the meeting explored ways to update joint GCC strategies to combat forced labor and human trafficking, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding workers’ rights while supporting sustainable development and regional prosperity.
For his part, GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al-Budaiwi added, “The economies of the GCC countries continue to grow at increasing rates, with the International Monetary Fund projecting growth of 4.1% in 2026, exceeding the global average.”
