Minister Al-Fassam advances digital shift with Google Cloud partnership

As part of Kuwait’s ongoing digital transformation efforts, Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Eng. Noura Al-Fassam, received Chris Lindsay, Vice President of Engineering at Google Cloud for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The meeting highlights Kuwait’s commitment to leveraging cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) to modernize public services and infrastructure, reports Al-Rai daily.
This engagement follows the strategic partnership agreement between the State of Kuwait and Google Cloud, to accelerate digital transformation across government entities by building secure, scalable, and high-performing digital infrastructure.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the Ministry of Finance’s initiatives to upgrade its financial systems and integrate cutting-edge cloud and AI technologies. The transition is expected to enhance system reliability, streamline services, and facilitate better data integration across platforms.
Al-Fassam confirmed that the Ministry of Finance is among the first public institutions to begin migrating its data to Google Cloud, showcasing the government’s technical readiness and commitment to smart governance.
“The partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to Kuwait Vision 2035, which places digital transformation at the heart of economic reform and public sector modernization,” said Al-Fassam.
“By moving to a secure, cloud-based system, we aim to boost operational efficiency, increase transparency, and lay the groundwork for smarter policies and more responsive services,” the minister added.
The migration of financial systems is part of a broader national alliance and is expected to improve productivity, enhance data sharing and management and provide powerful analytical tools for informed decision-making.
The meeting happened following a series of previous discussions held by the Ministry with leading international tech firms to develop a roadmap for digital infrastructure, bolster cybersecurity, and cultivate specialized digital capabilities within the government sector.
This approach reflects Kuwait’s ambition to position itself as a regional leader in e-governance and cloud adoption, with a strong focus on improving public sector efficiency through innovation.
