MEW to launch major maintenance program for power plants in mid-September

Informed sources at the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy revealed that the power plant sector will begin annual maintenance for 95% of electricity generation units starting mid-September.
The first unit scheduled for maintenance will be at Al-Zour South Station, with additional units from other stations to follow in sequence.
Officials confirmed that all stations are currently operating efficiently, noting that the maintenance program aims to enhance performance and return all units to full service, reports Al-Rai daily.
Currently, six units with a combined capacity of nearly 1,000 megawatts are out of service but are being prepared to return to the grid before next summer.
The ministry emphasized that maintenance contracts for electricity and water distillation plants are in full effect, with no delays, ensuring the stability of power supply.
The sources stressed the importance of energy-saving measures during the maintenance period, highlighting their role in boosting efficiency and reducing the impact on electricity availability.
