MEW restores majority of damaged power lines after debris incident
Four of seven transmission lines back in service following repairs

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Eng. Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat, announced that repair works have been completed on several electricity transmission lines that were damaged by falling debris early Tuesday morning, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain grid stability and ensure uninterrupted power supply.
Hayat stated that most of the damaged overhead lines have been repaired, with four out of seven lines successfully restored to service in line with approved technical standards and safety procedures, following the completion of inspection and evaluation processes, reports Al-Anba daily.
She noted that all repair and securing operations were carried out efficiently in accordance with the ministry’s emergency plan, alongside continuous field monitoring and technical testing to confirm the safety of network components and enhance overall system reliability.
She added that these efforts aim to strengthen the readiness of the electrical network and improve its performance across different regions.
Hayat confirmed that technical teams continue to work around the clock to complete repairs on the remaining lines and restore them to service as quickly as possible, while adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety.
She also praised the efforts of engineers, technicians, and field workers, highlighting their dedication and strong sense of responsibility while working continuously under demanding conditions.
The spokesperson emphasized that the electrical system remains stable and is operating efficiently, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to maintaining high standards to ensure energy security and sustainability across the country.
