MEW inks contract with stc to secure 500,000 smart meters

The Ministry of Electricity and Water and Renewable Energy has signed a contract with stc to supply 500,000 smart electricity meters. The contract is worth KD 9.979 million and will cover all areas of the country.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy has signed a contract with Kuwait Telecommunications Company (stc) to supply 500,000 smart electricity meters.

The contract, valued at 9.979 million dinars, aims to cover all regions within Kuwait, reports Q8-Press.

During the signing ceremony, Undersecretary of the Ministry, Engineer Maha Al-Asousi, highlighted that this initiative is expected to significantly contribute to energy conservation and efficient billing.

She emphasized that the smart meters will enable better management of electricity usage and allow for more informed and efficient decision-making.

Al-Asousi stressed the importance of timely delivery of these smart meters, noting their role in reducing manual intervention, minimizing human errors, and ensuring billing accuracy.

One of the key features of these meters is their remote communication capability, which facilitates easy maintenance operations.
