MEW exhibition honors Kuwaiti martyrs, preserves legacy of 1990 invasion

Rare artifacts and testimonies highlight brutality of invasion at ministry's annual exhibition

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy organized the fifth annual exhibition, “We Will Not Forget the Brutal Invasion and Our Righteous Martyrs,” held yesterday under the patronage of Minister Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, marking the 35th anniversary of Iraq’s 1990 invasion of Kuwait.

Eng. Fatima Hayat, the ministry’s official spokesperson said, “Today, we stand in loyalty to the righteous martyrs who gave their lives for Kuwait’s liberation,” Hayat said. “On this solemn occasion, we remember the true value of safety and security, and pray that God continues to bless our nation under its wise leadership.”

Researcher Mohammed Kamal, founder of Expo 965, the team behind the exhibition, said the event aims to educate younger generations about a defining period in Kuwait’s modern history, reports Al-Jarida daily.

“The exhibition brings to life the atrocities committed against the Kuwaiti people, including images of burning oil wells, resistance pamphlets, and documents revealing the occupiers’ attempts to erase our national identity,” Kamal stated.

Among the rare artifacts on display were photographs of tortured prisoners and martyrs, maps showing changes in area names, and license plates from the occupation era. Kamal stressed that all items are original and historically authentic, underscoring the commitment to preserving the nation’s collective memory.
