MEW awaits 29.9 million dinars approval for Al-Mutlaa Water Pumping Station

The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy is awaiting approval from the State Audit Bureau on its recommendation to establish, complete and maintain a water pumping station and its related facilities in Al-Mutlaa City, at a total cost of 29.9 million dinars.
Informed sources told Al-Rai that the delivery of fresh water to residential plots in Al-Mutlaa City is directly linked to the construction and operation of the pumping station. Once the contract is signed with the winning contractor, the project is expected to take approximately three years to complete.
The sources noted that the ministry is nearing completion of the main water supply lines to Al-Mutlaa City and has already finalized works related to the construction of overhead towers, stressing that the only remaining component required to fully operate the fresh water system and begin supplying water to residential plots is the completion of the pumping station project.
According to the sources, the pumping station tender was originally scheduled to be implemented in parallel with the main pipeline and overhead tower projects to allow for simultaneous operation. However, for unspecified reasons, the pumping station tender was delayed, resulting in a setback to the overall timeline for delivering water to the city.
The sources added that the ministry had previously operated a temporary water filling station in Al-Mutlaa City to support residents during the interim period. The facility has recently been upgraded, with the number of outlets increased to seven, in order to better meet residents’ needs until the permanent pumping station becomes operational, which is expected next year.
