MEW advancing robust business continuity strategy to ensure uninterrupted service

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy is advancing a robust business continuity strategy to ensure uninterrupted service during crises such as natural disasters and cyberattacks.

Eng. Ali Shaaban, Assistant Undersecretary for Planning, Training, and Information Systems, has detailed the ministry’s multi-faceted approach, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The plan focuses on several key areas, including identifying critical resources and services that require immediate restoration, establishing alternative data center locations, and maintaining reliable communications by using multiple providers and backup technologies.

Shaaban has highlighted the ministry’s commitment to digital transformation, noting that it offers 49 electronic services through its online portal and the “Sahel” government application, with 17,916 electronic transactions completed in 2024 alone.

Training and development are also priorities; over 2,400 employees have participated in 170 training programs organized by the Administrative Development and Training Department in partnership with universities and institutes.

Furthermore, the ministry collaborates with 78 government institutions via the Kuwait Information Network, overseen by the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA), and is expanding its electronic correspondence system to enhance inter-agency communication and efficiency.

This comprehensive approach reflects the ministry’s dedication to resilience, innovation, and seamless service delivery even under challenging circumstances.
