Met forecast hot, dusty weather with slight drop in temperatures

Public advised to remain cautious, especially in areas with low visibility due to dust, and to avoid unnecessary sea activities due to elevated wave heights

Director of the Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali, announced today that Kuwait will experience hot and dusty weather over the weekend, both during the day and night, though with a relative drop in temperatures compared to the previous week.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Ali explained that the country is currently under the influence of the Indian monsoon depression, accompanied by a hot, dry air mass.

This system is generating strong northwesterly winds that could exceed 60 kilometers per hour, stirring dust storms that significantly reduce horizontal visibility to under 1,000 meters and possibly to near-zero in some exposed areas. Sea waves are expected to rise above six feet.

Today, the temperatures are expected to peak between 42°C and 44°C. The sea will be moderate to high with wave heights of 3 to 7 feet.

By evening, the dust is expected to settle gradually. Conditions will remain hot to very hot, with northwesterly winds easing to speeds between 15 and 42 km/h. Nighttime temperatures will range from 30°C to 32°C, with moderate sea conditions and wave heights of 2 to 6 feet.

Friday’s weather will remain hot, with northwesterly winds at 15 to 50 km/h potentially stirring up dust again. Maximum temperatures are expected between 44°C and 46°C, and the sea will be light to moderate with waves reaching 6 feet. In the evening, temperatures will stay hot, with winds ranging from 15 to 38 km/h and seas maintaining moderate conditions.

Saturday will bring very hot daytime weather, with northwesterly winds between 15 and 45 km/h, raising dust in open areas.

Temperatures may reach between 45°C and 47°C. The sea will remain moderate with waves of 2 to 5 feet. Saturday night will continue to be hot, with temperatures between 31°C and 33°C and lighter winds from 12 to 35 km/h.
Al-Ali advised the public to remain cautious, especially in areas with low visibility due to dust, and to avoid unnecessary sea activities due to elevated wave heights.
