Met Dept warns of fog formation along several parts of Kuwait, particularly coastal areas

The Kuwait Meteorological Department has forecast the formation of fog on Tuesday evening in several parts of the country, particularly along coastal regions and the islands.

Acting Director of the Department, Dharar Al-Ali, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps and numerical models indicate that Kuwait will be affected by an extension of a high-pressure system from the northwest, accompanied by a moderately warm and humid air mass. Light to variable northwesterly winds are expected to prevail, shifting to southeasterly winds by Friday.

Al-Ali explained that as humidity levels rise starting Wednesday, the likelihood of dense fog formation will increase, reducing horizontal visibility to below 1,000 meters in some areas.

He added that foggy conditions are expected to persist through the weekend, while cloud cover is likely to increase gradually in the coming days, with a chance of scattered light rain forecast for Saturday evening.

The Meteorological Department advised motorists and the public to exercise caution during foggy periods, particularly in low-visibility areas, and to follow updates issued through official weather channels.
