MC to approve landmark decisions including acquisition of Dasman Palace

In a key session scheduled for tomorrow, the Municipal Council is set to adopt a ratification letter from Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Abdul Latif Al-Mishari, endorsing a series of major decisions made during its 18th regular session of the 13th legislative term.

Foremost among these decisions is the approval of the public benefit report concerning the acquisition of the historic Dasman Palace — designated as plot No. 15 of the tourism plan in Block 2 of the Dasman area, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The site will now be formally registered in Kuwait’s National Register of Historic Buildings as an archaeological and historical landmark.

Minister Al-Mishari also approved several land and planning-related requests, including:

Amending public radio station regulations — The spacing requirement between radio station fences and nearby private residences, schools, chalets, and farms has been reduced from 20 meters to 12 meters, following a technical review and a health ministry recommendation confirming the new distance as safe.

Allocations for government projects — A portion of the Ministry of Electricity’s land in the central region north of Subhan will be designated as the new headquarters for the Ministry of Commerce.

Approval was granted for the Ministry of Islamic Affairs to establish a mosque and associated parking in plot No. 7 of the Al-Messila area.

Renewal of land allocation for the Family Court building in the Granada area (plot 3), requested by the Ministry of Justice.

Cancellation of previous land use

The Council approved the Environment Public Authority’s request to cancel the previous allocation of the former Shuwaikh police station site in the Shuwaikh Third area.

These decisions reflect ongoing efforts to enhance urban planning, preserve national heritage, and improve public infrastructure across Kuwait.
