Major General Al-Munaifi meets Hussainiyas representatives

Interior Ministry reaffirms commitment to securing places of worship

Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Public Security Affairs, Major General Hamad Ahmed Al-Munaifi, held a meeting on Wednesday with representatives of Hussainiyas and places of worship, in the presence of officials from the General Fire Force and several senior security leaders.

Major General Al-Munaifi conveyed the greetings of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, affirming the Minister’s directives to facilitate all procedures necessary for securing Hussainiyas and places of worship during upcoming religious commemorations, reports Al-Rai daily.

He emphasized the need to strictly adhere to Decree-Law No. 73 of 2025, which amends certain provisions of Law No. 26 of 1961 regarding the national flag. The amendment explicitly prohibits the raising of flags or slogans that represent religious, social, tribal, or sectarian affiliations.

Addressing the organizational aspects of religious gatherings, Al-Munaifi stressed the importance of complying with public safety and security regulations. This includes prohibitions on setting up tents in public areas, blocking streets, using external loudspeakers, and holding marches. He also highlighted the need to comply with General Fire Force guidelines, including the provision of emergency entrances and exits to ensure public safety inside worship venues.

The meeting was interactive, with Major General Al-Munaifi attentively listening to the comments and suggestions raised by the attendees. Questions were addressed transparently and clearly, fostering mutual understanding.
Al-Munaifi expressed appreciation for the ongoing cooperation between security authorities and Hussainiyat officials, noting that such collaboration was key to the successful and safe conduct of last year’s religious observances. He called for the continuation of this spirit of partnership, which serves the greater public interest.

At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives of Hussainiyas expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Interior and commended the dedication and professionalism of the security personnel in ensuring safe and respectful religious observances.
