Mahatma Gandhi – A timeless beacon for humanity

Today, as we honor the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, we remember not only the Father of our Nation but also a radiant spirit who became a beacon for humanity. Gandhiji did not fight with weapons of war — his weapons were truth and non-violence. With these, he steered India toward freedom from colonial rule.
Through his philosophy of Satyagraha, Gandhi gave the world a profound and revolutionary idea: that justice can be achieved without violence, and that moral conviction holds greater power than brute force. His life proved that one individual’s steadfast truth can awaken millions. His battles against racism, inequality, and oppression stand out as one of the rarest examples in the history of mankind.
Gandhi’s ideals transcended national borders. They became a wellspring of inspiration for global freedom movements and peace initiatives. Icons such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela drew strength from his vision, affirming that his message was both universal and timeless.
The principles he lived by — universal welfare, social justice, honesty, and simplicity — are enduring treasures he gifted to all humankind. On this Gandhi Jayanti, remembering him must go beyond ceremonial observance; it should renew our collective commitment to unity, compassion, and peace.
For today’s India, his message is clear: The nation must stand above self-interest. Gandhiji taught us that politics is meant to be an instrument of service, not a battleground for conflict. Were he with us now, he would urge every political party to rise above divisions, abandon narrow pursuits, and work together for the welfare of the people. Truth, non-violence, and secularism must remain the foundation of our national life—beyond the boundaries of party or ideology.
As we remember Gandhiji today, let us pledge anew to follow his path, create a future for India and the world where peace, justice, and harmony endure.
Jai Hind!
