Machete-yielding juveniles land in jail after failed robbery attempt

Jahra security authorities have referred two juveniles, aged 16 and 17, to the Juvenile Prosecution Office following a failed robbery attempt at a shopping center in Jahra.

The Al-Anba daily said, one of the suspects was armed with a machete and went on spree to intimidate vendors and coerce them into handing over cash.

According to a security source, after the Ministry of Interior’s Operations Department received a report late Saturday evening, a police patrol from the Jahra Security Directorate was immediately dispatched to the scene but by then the teenagers had been overpowered and detained by the shopping center’s guards.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the suspects entered the market, with one wielding a machete in a threatening manner. Despite the intimidation attempt, employees managed to apprehend the pair before any theft occurred.

The two juveniles are now in custody of the Juvenile Prosecution Office.
