Life-sentence inmate linked to desert drug lab as security forces make major bust

The General Department for Drug Control seized substantial quantities of illegal substances and foiled a plan to sell them inside the country.
The operation was launched following precise intelligence indicating that two individuals residing illegally in Kuwait — one of whom an inmate at the Central Prison serving a life sentence for drug trafficking — were running a criminal enterprise dedicated to storing and preparing narcotics for sale.
A specialized field team tracked one of the suspects to the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak area, where he was located and arrested, reports Al-Jarida daily.
Subsequent investigations led officers to a camp in the Al-Salmi desert, which the suspect had converted into a facility for processing and storing drugs.
The search uncovered large and diverse quantities of narcotics, including:
- 40 kilograms of synthetic cannabinoids (chemical)
- 60 kilograms of Lyrica powder
- 8 kilograms of marijuana
- 500 grams of hashish
- 5 liters of liquid methamphetamine
- 300 liters of synthetic cannabinoid liquid
- 7 kilograms of synthetic cannabinoid paper
- Two precision scales
- Tools and equipment used for preparing and processing narcotics
- Initial investigations confirmed that the seized substances were intended for trafficking.
The suspects and all confiscated items were taken into custody, and the case has been referred to the competent investigative authorities for further legal action.
The General Department for Drug Control reiterated that its efforts are continuous and uncompromising in confronting anyone who threatens the security of society or attempts to spread this destructive scourge.
It affirmed that the law will reach offenders wherever they may be, with monitoring and surveillance operations conducted around the clock.
