Lebanon reopens airspace; Minister apologizes for disruptions

Lebanon reopened its airspace Saturday after a temporary shutdown due to regional security concerns, with Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamni issuing a statement apologizing to travelers for the inconvenience.

“I extend my deep apologies to all arriving and departing passengers,” Rasamni said, emphasizing that the decision to suspend air traffic and the accompanying emergency measures were driven solely by security imperatives, reports Al-Rai daily.

He stressed that passenger safety and the protection of air facilities remain the government’s top priorities.

Following the reopening, Middle East Airlines (MEA) announced it will reschedule its flights in line with the updated timings and promised to release a detailed statement shortly.

The move comes as tensions in the region remain high, particularly after Israel’s recent airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and retaliatory actions from Tehran.
