Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait hosts ‘Open Day’

. . . celebrates community unity and Lebanese–Kuwaiti bonds

The Times Kuwait Report

The Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait, under the patronage of the Lebanese Embassy in Kuwait, organized an “Open Day” event that brought together members of the Lebanese community in a warm, family-oriented atmosphere filled with camaraderie and connection.

The event saw remarkable participation from Lebanese residents representing all segments of the community.

In her address to the gathering, Chargé d’Affaires and Consul Mia Al-Adhm said, “As Lebanese, we always take pride in meeting our people in Kuwait — this generous land that embraced us and made us feel at home. No Lebanese has ever felt like a stranger here; rather, it feels as though we are moving from our house to the home of our own family.”

She added, “We are delighted to see this positive spirit that unites the Lebanese community around activities that strengthen communication and belonging — especially as it coincides with a dear occasion for every Lebanese, the 82nd anniversary of Independence Day.”

Board Member and Head of the Social Affairs and Capacity Development Committee, Walid Kamal Shaaban, said the success of the Open Day was the result of collective effort.

“We were keen to make this event a place of joy and connection for Lebanese families,” he said, expressing the council’s aspiration to organize more social activities that reinforce bonds within the community.

In a similar message, Chairman of the Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait, Ali Khalil, said, “We are pleased to gather today in an event designed to create a space of harmony and togetherness for the Lebanese community in Kuwait.

This large turnout is proof of the deep ties connecting Lebanese residents in Kuwait, and reflects their constant commitment to maintaining a spirit of cooperation and solidarity.”

He added, “On this occasion, we extend our deepest gratitude to the State of Kuwait — its leadership, government, and people — for hosting the Lebanese community for decades and for its continuous support to Lebanon through all circumstances.

Kuwait has always stood by Lebanon in every challenge, reaffirming its position as a genuine Arab nation that supports its brothers with sincere efforts and noble stances.”

Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the event, Khalil emphasized the profound relationship between Lebanon and Kuwait, noting that it is built on “four fundamental pillars that reflect the nature of the bond between the two peoples.”

He said, “The long-standing presence of the Lebanese community in Kuwait has strengthened this closeness. During my 30 years in Kuwait, I have never felt like a stranger. Yes, we are technically guests, but Kuwaitis treat us like citizens — and in return, we behave as guests in our rights and as citizens in our duties, which is a responsibility we fully uphold.”

Khalil highlighted Kuwait’s historic role in supporting Lebanon during its most difficult moments, noting that “Kuwait never abandoned Lebanon — through the civil war, the 2006 conflict, the Beirut Port explosion, and the most recent events. Support has always come from both the leadership and the people of Kuwait.”

He also pointed to the strong cultural similarities between the two nations, explaining that both Lebanon and Kuwait share deep-rooted traditions in trade and openness, forming a foundation for their mutual affinity.

On tourism, Khalil noted a significant rise in the number of Kuwaiti visitors to Lebanon in recent months. “This is not surprising,” he said, “as it reflects their love for Lebanon and their confidence that the country is regaining its vitality after difficult times.”

He concluded by affirming that Lebanon will always remain “a home for Kuwaitis, just as Kuwait has become a second home for thousands of Lebanese who have found safety, respect, and opportunities for dignified living within it.”
