Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, stressed that Kuwait’s world-class hotels, along with its natural assets of islands and beaches, can be enhanced through collaboration and investment, driving tourism recovery, attracting visitors, and contributing to economic growth through private-sector participation.
Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, held a meeting with hotel managers and representatives of travel and tourism agencies in Kuwait to discuss key areas of cooperation aimed at advancing the country’s tourism sector. The discussions also addressed the main challenges facing the industry and possible solutions, Al Rai newspaper reported.
Al-Mutairi emphasized that Kuwait’s tourism sector enjoys strong support from the country’s leadership, under the guidance of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the directives of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
He pointed to ongoing initiatives to strengthen the tourism industry, including the launch of the ‘Visit Kuwait’ platform, describing it as an institutional reference that will help document and promote the country’s tourism experience.
Al-Mutairi highlighted that the ‘Visit Kuwait’ platform offers a comprehensive service for visitors, citizens, and residents. The platform provides easy access to electronic tourist visas, an interactive map that identifies destinations and services, and a smart assistant named Rashid that responds to inquiries around the clock. It also features offers and discounts designed to support the private sector and enhance the experience of all users.
Al-Mutairi explained that the platform embodies a unified national vision, bringing together government and private entities under one umbrella while opening wider opportunities for partnership with hotels, restaurants, transport services, and entertainment and sports facilities. He emphasized that the initiative also offers investors—both local and international—a single window for communication and marketing. The platform, he said, acts as a dynamic pulse for Kuwait’s tourism sector, reflecting the country’s hospitality and authenticity, and aims to make Kuwait more visible on the global tourism map.
Speaking about cooperation with hotels, the minister noted that tourism is not a new concept for Kuwait, recalling the tourism promotion project launched in 1973. He stressed that the country has long possessed the right components to advance tourism, support economic growth, and boost the gross domestic product. This, he added, can be achieved through private-sector participation, attracting investment, creating opportunities for young Kuwaiti entrepreneurs, and generating new jobs.
Al-Mutairi further pointed out that Kuwait’s strong network of world-class hotels could be enhanced through closer collaboration, with facilities and support provided to position them competitively. He also highlighted Kuwait’s natural assets, including its islands and beaches, which could be further developed and marketed to attract regional and international visitors.
Turning to cooperation with travel and tourism companies, the minister explained that their role is equally vital, as they provide integrated services for travelers—handling everything from airline ticketing to accommodation and transport—ensuring safe, convenient, and well-organized travel experiences.
During the meeting, ‘Visit Kuwait’ team member Sulaiman Al-Gharib gave a visual presentation showcasing areas of partnership, including promoting companies through the platform and offering exclusive deals and discounts.
The meeting concluded with discussions on strategies to attract more tourists, develop hotel and tourism facilities, and address challenges facing stakeholders in the sector.
