Kuwait’s top legal figures join International Arbitration Court
The personalities nominated from Kuwait are, Dr. Dima Nasser Al-Waqyan, Dr. Hassan Mohammed Al-Rasheed, lawyer Dr. Abdul Wahab Abdul Latif Sadeq, and lawyer Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mutairi.
• It is noteworthy that Kuwait joined the National Committee of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in 2003, which was established in 1899 through the dispute settlement agreement reached at the Peace Conference in the Dutch city of The Hague.
In a testament to the excellence of the Kuwaiti judiciary and the distinguished reputation of Kuwait in international judicial forums, the Executive Council of the Permanent Court of Arbitration has again appointed a group of esteemed Kuwaiti legal figures to fill Kuwait’s seats at the Permanent Court of Arbitration for six years starting July 17, 2024, Al Rai newspaper reported.
The personalities nominated from Kuwait are Dr. Dima Nasser Al-Waqyan, Dr. Hassan Mohammed Al-Rasheed, lawyer Dr. Abdul Wahab Abdul Latif Sadeq, and lawyer Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mutairi.
This position is very important to the State of Kuwait, as the country ensures the presence of four representatives in the National Committee of the Permanent Court of Arbitration. Their names will be placed on the list of arbitrators accredited by the International Permanent Court of Arbitration.
It is noteworthy that Kuwait joined the court in 2003, which was established in 1899 through the dispute settlement agreement reached at the Peace Conference in the Dutch city of The Hague.
In April 2015, the court’s executive board approved the appointment of four Kuwaiti figures for the first time.

- Members of the National Committee have the right to nominate individuals from their own or other countries for the International Nobel Prize in all its fields.
- They have the right to nominate candidates for judges of the International Court of Justice.
