Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to UN, calls for enhanced efforts to clear Kuwaiti names from terrorism lists
Tariq Al-Bannai, Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the United Nations confirmed that Kuwait is intensifying efforts to remove the names of Kuwaitis included on international terrorism lists.
Al-Bannai in a statement to Al-Qabas on the sidelines of the ‘Conference on Enhancing International Cooperation to Combat Terrorism’ hosted by Kuwait, mentioned that the country is working hard to remove all names that are included in the terrorism lists.
Also, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to work and coordinate with international bodies, but the process is long and complex, and requires continuous follow-up. However, the Ministry is keen to close this file, Al-Bannai stressed.
Furthermore, Al-Bannai stated that terrorism has become an international scourge that requires the international community to unite in finding solutions and address the causes. In addition also seek societal cooperation, whether from governments or civil society, to combat this ideology and in particular this trend, which is alien to our region.
Emphasizing Kuwait’s stand, Al-Bannai stated that Kuwait’s efforts in combating terrorism is clear and explicit, and the State is at the forefront of nations trying to address this scourge in all its aspects, noting the Gulf solidarity and cooperation with international and regional organizations in this regard.
Furthermore, Al-Bannai also touched upon the importance of the ‘Conference on Enhancing International Cooperation to Combat Terrorism’ hosted by Kuwait under the patronage of, His Highness the Amir of the Country, in order to mobilize international efforts to cooperate in combating terrorism in all its forms.
