Kuwait’s non-oil exports reach KD 19.1 million in August
In August, 1,577 certificates of origin for Kuwaiti exports to GCC countries were issued, totaling KD 11.4 million, a decrease from the 1,597 certificates valued at KD 15.7 million in July.
• Kuwait issues 502 certificates of origin to Arab-Islamic countries in August, covering ten countries with an export value of approximately KD 7.3 million. This compares to 366 certificates issued to ten countries with an export value of about KD 7.1 million the previous month.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced on Thursday that Kuwait’s non-oil domestic exports to foreign countries totaled KD 19.1 million ($62.5 million) in August, down from KD 24 million ($78 million) in July, according to Al Jarida newspaper.
Saleh Al-Azmi, Undersecretary of the International Organisations and Foreign Trade Sector, told the Kuwaiti Press Agency (KUNA) that the total number of certificates of origin for Kuwaiti exports issued by the ministry to Gulf Cooperation Council countries reached 1,577 in August, with an estimated export value of KD 11.4 million dinars ($37.3 million), compared to 1,597 certificates with exports valued at KD 15.7 million ($51.4 million) in July.
Al-Azmi also noted that 502 certificates of origin were issued to Arab-Islamic countries in August, covering tencountries with an export value of approximately KD 7.3 million ($23.9 million). This compares to 366 certificates issued to ten countries with an export value of about KD 7.1 million ($23.2 million) the previous month.
He stated that the number of certificates of origin issued to European countries in August amounted to six certificates for four countries, with a value of KD 70,491 (about $230,000), compared to 22 certificates for nine countries, worth one million dinars (about $3.2 million).
He pointed out that the number of certificates of origin issued to African countries in August amounted to sevencertificates for four countries, with a value of KD 186,840 (about $611,000), compared to eight certificates for four countries, valued at about KD 224,626 (about $735,000).
He added that the number of certificates of origin issued to countries in the Americas last August reached four certificates for two countries, worth KD 108,592 dinars (about $355,000), compared to 12 certificates for seven countries, valued at KD 227,443 dinars (about $745,000).
He stated that the number of certificates of origin issued to European countries last August amounted to sixcertificates for four countries, worth KD 70,491 ($230,000), compared to 22 certificates for nine countries, worth one million dinars (about $3.2 million).
He pointed out that the number of certificates of origin issued to African countries in August amounted to sevencertificates for four countries, valued at KD 186,840 (about $611,000), compared to eight certificates for four countries, valued at about KD 224,626 (about $735,000).
He added that the number of certificates of origin issued to countries in the Americas last August reached fourcertificates for two countries, worth KD 108,592 (about $355,000), compared to 12 certificates for seven countries, valued at KD 227,443 (about $745,000).
Regarding the certificates of origin issued to Asian countries last August, Al-Azmi noted the issuance of nine certificates to three countries, valued at KD 18,653 (about $61,000), compared to one certificate for one country, valued at 27,881 dinars (about $91,000).
It is noteworthy that some Kuwaiti exports do not require a certificate of origin. Therefore, the above-mentioned figures include only exports of Kuwaiti origin issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, as some importing entities do not require a certificate of origin for their products.
Kuwaiti factories export their products to various markets around the world, starting with GCC countries, followed by Arab countries, then European and African nations, as well as Asian countries, Australia, and the Americas.
These products vary and include, but are not limited to, liquid gases, foodstuffs, polyethylene, organic solvents, empty cardboard boxes, white solvents, refined oil, mineral oil liquids, medicinal oxygen, dairy products, empty glass bottles, and copper bars.
