Kuwait’s leadership rekindles spirit of giving with new humanitarian work framework

In a major step to reinforce Kuwait’s global reputation in humanitarian aid, the Committee for Regulating Humanitarian and Charitable Work has announced the reopening of donation channels and the implementation of charitable projects both domestically and abroad.

The decision, issued last Wednesday under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, reflects a renewed national commitment to promoting transparency, governance, and trust in charitable operations, reports Al-Rai daily.

Officials stressed that the move is part of a broader effort to strengthen oversight and accountability in the philanthropic sector. By providing donors with clear visibility into how their contributions are spent, the initiative seeks to boost public confidence and reaffirm Kuwait’s position as a global leader in humanitarian efforts.

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Kuwait Relief Society, welcomed the decision as a powerful testament to the country’s leadership and its deep-rooted values of generosity. He underscored the importance of maintaining strict integrity and transparency while carrying out humanitarian missions, expressing confidence that the new legal framework will help expand the reach of charitable organizations.

Echoing this optimism, Dr. Khaled Al-Subaihi, Chairman of the Humanitarian Excellence Association, said the decision symbolizes a new era for Kuwaiti charity—one defined by impactful, sustainable initiatives that uplift humanity across borders.

Both Dr. Al-Saleh and Dr. Al-Subaihi praised the role of donors, describing them as essential partners in Kuwait’s global humanitarian mission.

They also praised the leadership of Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef and the efforts of all governmental bodies involved in driving forward the decision. The return to formalized charitable work was hailed as not just a policy change, but a reaffirmation of Kuwait’s core values of compassion and responsibility to the international community.
