‘Distance and Closeness: Chinese Art in Kuwait’ exhibition represents a milestone in cultural cooperation between Kuwait and the friendly People's Republic of China – Minister Al-Mutairi

Representative of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Information and Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi affirmed the leadership’s commitment to supporting cultural dialogue and enhancing human communication among nations.

In his speech during the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Distance and Closeness: Chinese Art in Kuwait,” held under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister and organized by Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah as part of Kuwait Capital of Arab Culture and Media 2025 program, Al-Mutairi said the event represents a milestone in cultural cooperation between Kuwait and the friendly People’s Republic of China.

He commended the General Supervisor of Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah Sheikha Hessa Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah for her outstanding efforts and unique initiatives that contributed to organizing this distinguished cultural event and for her pioneering role in promoting Kuwait’s artistic and cultural presence internationally.

Al-Mutairi expressed deep appreciation for the official visit made by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the People’s Republic of China in 2023, which laid the foundations for a new phase of comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries and strengthened cultural, economic, and humanitarian exchange.

For her part, Sheikha Hessa Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah said the exhibition reflects the vision of her late husband, Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who believed that art is a universal language fostering dialogue, understanding, and human closeness through shared creativity.

She added that the exhibition will continue until the end of 2026, representing a major cultural event within Kuwait’s designation as the Arab Capital of Culture and highlighting deep-rooted ties between Kuwait and China through the universal language of art and creativity.

Meanwhile, Chinese Embassy Charge d’Affaires Liu Xiang affirmed that the exhibition symbolizes the genuine friendship between China and Kuwait, reflecting their growing cultural exchanges under Kuwait’s wise leadership, while participants hailed it as a bridge linking civilizations through art and shared heritage.
