Kuwait’s electrical loads drop to 15,600 megawatts

Customer rationalization during peak times aided in maintaining a robust network reserve, contributing to decreased loads.

  • The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy continues its efforts to complete maintenance work on the southern Al-Zour units to increase total production from power stations.

The drop in temperatures to 47 degrees Celsius in Kuwait, coupled with the weekend, led to a reduction in electrical loads. The peak load reached 15,600 megawatts on Saturday, maintaining stable operation within the green zone, the Al Anba newspaper reported.

Sources said that several factors contributed to the decrease in loads, such as customers’ commitment to rationalization during peak times, which helped maintain a good reserve in the network.

The sources further explained that the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy continues its efforts to complete maintenance work on the southern Al-Zour units to increase total production from power stations, in addition to what enters the network from the GCC Interconnection Authority.

The sources reiterated the call for rationalization to maintain network stability and avoid the necessity of resorting to scheduled disconnections.
