Kuwait’s Constitutional Court committed in strengthening cooperation with Arab Courts

Counselor Abdul Rahman Al-Darmi, Member of the Constitutional Court of Kuwait, reaffirmed today, Wednesday, 26th February, the commitment to strengthening cooperation and deepening ties between the Kuwaiti Constitutional Court, and Arab Constitutional Courts and Councils.

Al-Darmi made this statement during his speech at the General Assembly meeting of the Union of Arab Constitutional Courts and Councils, held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE.

Furthermore, Al-Darmi emphasized Kuwait’s dedication to supporting the Union’s goals, including strengthening constitutional principles and promoting the exchange of expertise in constitutional judiciary. He also commended the Union’s commitment to regularly holding the General Assembly since its establishment.

Al-Darmi highlighted the vital role of constitutional oversight carried out by constitutional courts and councils, emphasizing that it serves as a fundamental safeguard for constitutional legitimacy.

Importantly, Al-Darmi expressed his appreciation for the congratulations extended by the President of the Union of Arab Constitutional Courts and Councils to the State of Kuwait in celebration of its national holidays.

In addition to Counselor Al-Darmi, the Kuwaiti delegation includes Counselor Ibrahim Al-Saif, a member of the Constitutional Court, and Issa Al-Bishr, Director of the Constitutional Court Clerk’s Department.

The meeting will address constitutional challenges faced by these courts and explore ways to safeguard the rights and freedoms of citizens in Arab countries.
