Kuwait’s Aviation Security Committee convenes to bolster airport safety
Extraordinary meeting led by DGCA Chairman focuses on international compliance and inter-agency coordination

In light of ongoing regional developments, the National Committee for Aviation Security and Facilitation held an extraordinary session to review and reinforce aviation security protocols at Kuwait International Airport.
The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Hamoud Al-Mubarak, Chairman of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and was attended by representatives from a wide range of key state institutions, including fhe General Staff of the Armed Forces, Ministry of Interior, General Administration of Customs, Kuwait Fire Force, and ministries of Health, Justice, and Foreign Affairs, reports Al-Rai daily.
The committee’s agenda centered around compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, addressing both aviation security and facilitation measures. Discussions also covered Kuwait’s obligations under international aviation treaties, with an emphasis on the safety of passengers, airport infrastructure, and airline operations.
Officials reviewed current security protocols and agreed on a series of directives and recommendations aimed at enhancing Kuwait’s alignment with global aviation requirements. These decisions are seen as particularly vital given the current heightened regional tensions.
The committee stressed the need for strict, uncompromising execution of all agreed-upon measures, calling on full cooperation among all agencies involved. The DGCA emphasized that security procedures must be implemented with urgency and precision, reinforcing Kuwait’s readiness to respond to any potential threats.
The committee’s work also supports several key infrastructure and modernization projects underway at Kuwait International Airport, which must conform to international aviation security benchmarks.
The convening of this extraordinary session underscores Kuwait’s proactive stance in ensuring the security and integrity of its airspace and transportation hubs. With regional instability posing new challenges, Kuwait is intensifying multi-agency coordination to safeguard both national and passenger interests.
More updates are expected as implementation of the new directives progresses in the coming weeks.
