Kuwait’s annual inflation climbed to 2.75% this September

According to the data from the Central Administration of Statistics, it showed that the consumer price index “Inflation” rose locally by 2.75% this September on an annual basis. Whereas, the inflation rate rose by 0.15% on a monthly basis compared to its levels recorded in August this year.

The statistics attributed the rise in inflation on an annual basis to the increase in the prices of the main groups that affect the movement of the indices, especially clothing, food and education.

As per explanation provided, it indicated that the index of the first group, “Food and Beverages” rose by 5.8% in September, compared to the same month in 2023. On the other hand the price index of the second group, “Cigarettes and Tobacco” rose slightly by 0.15% on an annual basis.

Whereas, the index of the third group, “Clothing” rose by 5.66%, while the prices for the fourth group, “Housing Services” rose by 0.57%, and the inflation rate in the fifth group, “Home Furnishings” rose by 3.99%.

Comparatively, the price index of the sixth group, “Health” rose by 4.38%, and in the seventh group, “Transportation” prices decreased by 1.61% last September, compared to the same month in 2023.

“Statistics” indicated that the prices of the eighth group, “Communications,” rose by 2.2% on an annual basis, while the inflation rate in the ninth group, “Entertainment and Culture,” rose by 2.34%, while the prices of the tenth group, “Education,” rose by 0.79%.

Finally it was pointed out that the prices of the eleventh group “Restaurants and Hotels” rose by 2.05% on an annual basis last September, while the prices of the twelfth group, “Miscellaneous Goods and Services” rose by 5.39%.
