Kuwait’s Al-Zour Refinery set for massive KD 130 million overhaul
The refinery is considered one of the most prominent strategic projects in the local oil sector and a key pillar of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s 2040 strategy.

• With a refining capacity of approximately 615,000 barrels per day, the Al-Zour Refinery accounts for 43.5% of Kuwait’s total refining capacity.
The Al-Zour Refinery is preparing for a major periodic maintenance project with an estimated budget of KD 130 million, sources revealed to Arabic daily Al-Anba.
The Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) has reportedly divided the contract into two parts—Block 1 valued at KD 57.45 million and Block 2 at KD 71.79 million.

With a refining capacity of approximately 615,000 barrels per day, it accounts for 43.5% of Kuwait’s total refining capacity.
The refinery comprises three mini-refineries, each equipped with atmospheric distillation, desulfurization, and hydro–treating units, enhancing operational flexibility and continuity.
