Kuwaiti women excel in driving tests over men

In 2023, a total of 25,015 applicants took the practical driver’s license test, with 18,618 passing, including 6,397 female applicants, who made up 25.57 percent of the total.

The number of males who applied for the practical drivers license test reached 116,320, of which 80,878 passed and 35,442 failed.

93,701 males applied for the theoretical test, of whom 82,201 passed and 11,686 failed, resulting in a failure rate of 12 percent.

 

Recent statistics from the Central Bureau of Statistics reveal that a total of 25,015 applicants took the practical driver’s license test last year, with 18,618 passing. Among these, female applicants accounted for 6,397, representing 25.57 percent of the total. Additionally, 20,060 individuals applied for the theoretical test, with 19,178 successfully passing and 882 failing, which corresponds to a failure rate of 4.4 percent, according to the Al Rai newspaper.

The number of males who applied for the practical driver’s license test reached 116,320, of which 80,878 passed and 35,442 failed, bringing the failure rate to 30.46 percent. According to the figures, 93,701 males applied for the theoretical test, of whom 82,201 passed and 11,686 failed, resulting in a failure rate of 12 percent.

In total, the number of applicants for the theoretical and practical tests reached 45,075, with 37,796 successful candidates compared to 7,279 failures, which is about 16 percent. For males, the number of candidates for the two tests reached 210,021, with 16,893 succeeding and 47,128 failing at a rate of 22.4 percent.

Regarding nationalities, the statistics showed that the number of non-citizens applying for the practical test reached 109,918, of which 71,115 succeeded and 38,803 failed, bringing the failure rate to 35.31 percent. Meanwhile, the number of citizens applying for the same test reached 31,417, with 28,381 passing and 3,036 failing, resulting in a failure rate of 9.66 percent.

For the theoretical test, the number of non-citizens applying reached 83,681, of whom 72,606 succeeded and 11,075 failed, yielding a failure rate of 13.22 percent. In contrast, the number of citizens applying for the same test reached 30,080, with 28,587 passing and 1,493 failing, resulting in a failure rate of 4.96 percent.

104,793 driving licenses issued in 2023

The number of driving licenses issued in 2023 reached 104,793. According to the figures for license issuance by governorate, Al-Farwaniyah topped the list, followed by the Capital Governorate, then Al-Ahmadi, Jahra, Hawalli, and Mubarak Al-Kabir.

In 2023, the issuance of driving licenses varied across governorates, with Al-Farwaniyah leading the numbers at 24,566 licenses. The Capital Governorate followed closely behind with 22,077 licenses issued. Al-Ahmadi recorded 21,227 licenses, while Jahra had 14,779. Hawalliissued 11,434 licenses, and Mubarak Al-Kabeer rounded out the list with 10,710 licenses issued.
