Kuwaiti tourism to India surges with over 11,000 visas issued in 2024 and 2025

India-Kuwait tourism ties strengthened with easy online application and long-term options

India is experiencing a notable rise in tourism from Kuwait, driven in large part by the growing popularity of its streamlined electronic visa (e-visa) system.

According the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Dr. Adarsh Swaika, more than 11,300 tourist visas have been issued to Kuwaiti nationals from the start of 2024 through the first half of 2025, signaling sustained enthusiasm for travel to the South Asian destination.

In 2024 alone, over 7,700 tourist visas were granted to Kuwaitis, while the first seven months of 2025 saw an additional 3,600 visas issued.

This upward trend is closely tied to the reactivation of India’s e-visa platform in July 2025, which has made the visa application process significantly easier and more convenient for Kuwaiti travelers, the Gulf News reports.

Ambassador Dr Swaika highlighted that between July 13 and August 6, 2025, 163 e-visas were granted to Kuwaiti visitors, underscoring the growing reliance on this digital service.

“The e-visa service has been warmly welcomed by many of our Kuwaiti friends,” he said. “Applicants can complete the entire process online, eliminating the need to visit the Indian visa center in person.”

A key attraction of the new system is the availability of long-term tourist visas, including five-year multiple-entry options, available for a modest fee of just $80.

Beyond traditional tourist visas, India also offers business, medical, and the recently introduced Ayush Visa — aimed at those seeking alternative medicine and wellness treatments like Ayurveda and yoga.

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait is actively promoting these varied visa options, with Ambassador Swaika noting that the e-visa platform has so far operated smoothly without significant technical issues.

The ambassador also welcomed recent Kuwaiti government initiatives aimed at facilitating visa procedures for Indian visitors, expressing optimism that these efforts will boost inbound Indian tourism to Kuwait. This mutual interest in easing travel is expected to further deepen the cultural and tourism ties between the two friendly nations.

As travel resumes robustly post-pandemic, India’s diverse attractions — from its rich heritage and spiritual retreats to bustling cities and natural beauty — continue to captivate Kuwaiti tourists, establishing India as a preferred destination in the region.
