Kuwaiti Society for SII hosts ‘Digital Safety’ awareness event

‘Protecting Ourselves in the Age of Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence’

In line with its continued efforts to enhance digital awareness and keep pace with rapid technological advancements, the Kuwaiti Society for Supporting Inventors and Innovation, in cooperation with the Public Affairs Section at the U.S. Embassy, organized an awareness event titled “Digital Safety: Protecting Ourselves in the Age of Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence.” The event was held on Wednesday, January 21, 2027.

The event witnessed notable participation by American cybersecurity expert Guillermo Christensen, alongside a distinguished group of local specialists in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, creating a rich platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange.

Discussions during the event focused on the growing challenges and risks associated with cyber threats, underscoring the urgent need to strengthen digital safety concepts and protect personal data in light of the increasing reliance on artificial intelligence technologies and their direct impact on individuals, institutions, and economic systems.

In a press statement, Dr. Fatima Al-Thalab, President of the Kuwaiti Society for Supporting Inventors and Innovation, affirmed that the event falls within the Society’s strategic vision to promote a culture of digital safety, emphasizing that cybersecurity awareness has become an indispensable necessity in today’s digital era.

“Through such events, we aim to empower the community with a deeper understanding of digital risks and effective preventive measures, while promoting the safe and responsible use of modern technologies, particularly artificial intelligence,” Dr. Al-Thalab said.

She added that the Society remains committed to organizing awareness programs and initiatives that support innovation and contribute to building a safer, more sustainable digital society.

For his part, American cybersecurity expert Guillermo Christensen highlighted the global nature of cyber threats, noting that digital transformation has fundamentally changed the way crimes are committed.

“Cybersecurity is something that all of us must pay attention to, because we live in a mostly digital economy,” Christensen said. “While technology makes it easier to manage finances and purchase goods, it also allows criminals in other countries to commit crimes in seconds over the internet — something that would have been unimaginable a hundred years ago.”

In this context, the Kuwaiti Society for Supporting Inventors and Innovation expressed its sincere appreciation to the Public Affairs Section at the U.S. Embassy for its active participation and for facilitating the involvement of an American expert in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, which significantly enriched the discussions and strengthened the exchange of international expertise.

The Society also extended its thanks and gratitude to the Sociologists Association for graciously hosting the event and for its outstanding organization, which played a key role in the success of the event and in achieving its digital awareness objectives.
