Kuwaiti shrimp returns to market amid high consumer demand

As of August 1, Kuwaiti shrimp is back on the market, leading to high consumer demand at the fish market auction on Friday afternoon. With ample quantities available, the price for a 22-kilo basket ranged from 48 to 67 dinars, according to Al Rai newspaper.

Hamoud Al-Hamdi, the emergency supervisor of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, told Al-Rai newspaper that the Sharq market auction was bustling on the first day of the shrimp season. The market received 2.2 tons of shrimp through 110 baskets, with auction prices for Umm Naira shrimp ranging from 48 to 67 dinars.

He explained that the price for shrimp on rugs ranged from 3 to 3.5 dinars per kilogram. Al-Hamdi expressed hope that more quantities will become available as additional fishing licenses are issued by the Public Authority for Agriculture for fishing in economic waters.
