Kuwaiti Prime Minister seeks unity for improving living conditions

Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Al-Sabah said, “Our primary focus is on restoring confidence in the mindset of Kuwaiti citizens, assuring them that the state is earnestly addressing their concerns”

Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Al-Sabah expressed hope that the initiative to improve living conditions would mark the start of cooperation between the government and the upcoming National Assembly. He revealed that despite the Assembly’s dissolution, the government remains committed to actively addressing this issue.

He stated in a press release during his sponsorship of the Saud Nasser Al-Sabah Diplomatic Institute’s ceremony to graduate the eighth and ninth batches of diplomats, “We were supposed to discuss this matter with Parliament, but that was halted due to Parliament’s dissolution, for reasons that everyone is aware of, namely, the harm to the Emir.”

He explained, “The government’s efforts are focused on two aspects. The first pertains to the financial aspect, but it alone is insufficient. If someone is provided with financial support but remains concerned about their situation and future, they will not feel reassured. Therefore, our primary focus is on restoring confidence in the mindset of Kuwaiti citizens, assuring them that the state is earnestly addressing their concerns.” He emphasized the state’s capability to combat all forms of deviation and corruption, including forgery and crime.

He explained that the other aspect is the financial situation, noting that “the government, in collaboration with technical authorities, thoroughly studied the issue of Qard Al-Hassan. As a result, we were able to achieve a positive outcome and opinion regarding Qard Al-Hassan, ensuring the benefits for retirees while also safeguarding the safety and sustainability of pension funds in the Social Insurance Institution.”

The Prime Minister stated, “This matter has reached a conclusion, and the question is: Do we issue a necessary decision or decree now when the elections are approaching? Or do we wait until after a few days when we will have a new parliament, and God willing, these issues will mark the beginning of cooperation between parliament and the government.”

Sheikh Mohammed Al-Sabah stressed in his speech during the ceremony that, “we have a leadership that believes in applying the law to the strong before the weak, as we saw in the file of combating corruption in its financial and administrative aspects.”
