A Kuwaiti national traveled to Sri Lanka to visit his family’s former housemaid, who had worked in their household for thirty years — a gesture that gained wide attention on social media, reported UAE-based English daily Gulf News.

In a video posted online, he recalled how she joined the family when he was six years old and went on to raise him and many of his siblings. “She practically looked after half our family, and even half the children in our neighborhood,” he said jokingly.

He also remembered asking her for pocket money as a child. “At first, she would say no, and I’d walk away upset. Then she’d call me back and say: ‘Come and take,’” he recounted.

As a token of gratitude, he arranged a week-long hotel stay for her in Colombo, though she chose to spend only three days before returning home.
