Kuwaiti judiciary aligns with Amir’s vision amid national challenges

As Kuwait grapples with record electricity consumption driven by a sudden heatwave, the nation’s judiciary is reinforcing its commitment to reform and integrity in line with the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
President of the Court of Cassation and Supreme Judicial Council, Counselor Dr. Adel Bouresli, affirmed the judiciary’s full alignment with the Amir’s aspirations to consolidate the values of honesty, integrity, and justice, and to uphold the rule of law and judicial independence. He emphasized the judiciary’s role in protecting rights and delivering justice efficiently and fairly, reports Al-Rai daily.
In his address before the General Assembly of the Court of Cassation, Dr. Bouresli recalled the Amir’s emphasis on swift dispute resolution, avoiding unnecessary delays in court sessions, and ensuring consistency in verdicts, particularly in similar cases. He noted that the Supreme Judicial Council has already approved a comprehensive Kuwaitization plan for the judiciary and its support bodies, a key element of national reform.
“The Council encourages litigants and court reviewers to raise any concerns about inconsistent rulings directly to the heads of the competent courts for immediate review and legal action,” he said. “Judges are also urged to accelerate the pace of rulings and refrain from adjournments unless warranted by serious and justified reasons.”
Dr. Bouresli further highlighted the Council’s strategy to usher in a digital transformation of judicial services, including the application of artificial intelligence and good governance tools to enhance efficiency and transparency. He called on the Ministry of Justice to swiftly issue the e-litigation regulations that the Council has already prepared, in order to modernize court procedures and improve access to justice for citizens and residents alike.
Despite challenges, Kuwait’s commitment to institutional reform and governance remains strong, as highlighted by the judiciary’s efforts to uphold national principles amid broader structural stress.
