Kuwaiti Ghuloum wins two awards at Siena International Photography Awards

Kuwaiti photographer Dr. Mahdi Ghuloum has won two honors at the prestigious Siena International Photography Awards in Italy, where leading professional and amateur photographers from around the world took part.
Ghuloum competed in the “Environmental Photographs” and “Environmental Documentary Films Using Aerial Photography” categories.
His photo of the migratory Greater Spotted Eagle, a bird that visits Kuwait annually, secured second place in the documentary aerial photography category, reports Al-Rai daily.
He also received the Excellence Award for an environmental documentary film capturing the migration of birds across Kuwait’s skies.
The film highlights the importance of preserving natural habitats and the role migratory birds play in maintaining ecological balance.
Ghuloum stressed that showcasing his work in international exhibitions gives global visibility to Kuwait’s environment as a key passageway for migratory birds.
He added that his mission is to use photography not only as an art form but also as a tool to raise environmental awareness, encourage conservation, and inspire efforts toward a sustainable future.
