Kuwaiti gets life for cultivating marijuana in his Salwa apartment

The Criminal Court has sentenced a Kuwaiti man to life imprisonment for cultivating and storing marijuana inside his apartment in Salwa.

The happened after the CID men raided the suspect’s apartment and discovered a makeshift indoor farm where he had planted 45 marijuana seedlings.

Following the raid, the authorities seized 4 kilograms of processed marijuana, packed in small sachets, ready for sale. The authorities also found 37 kilograms of gold bars and precious metals, large sums of money believed to be money from drug trafficking.

During the investigation and in court, the defendant confessed to learning how to grow marijuana while studying abroad. He admitted to using his knowledge to cultivate the drugs in Kuwait.

He admitted that he purchased marijuana seeds online and had them shipped via air freight. He also acknowledged buying gold and silver bullion from the money he earned from his drug sales.

This case highlights the growing concern over drug-related activities and money laundering attempts in Kuwait, and reflects the judiciary’s firm stance on combating narcotics-related crimes.
