Kuwaiti ex-government employees to wait until 21st to register for jobs

The registration criteria for the employees remain unchanged, and concurrently, there is a need to reduce the lists of individuals registered in the central employment system.

  • Sources said rehabilitation is possible but needs money. They noted the training budget now goes to employees, not new graduates looking for jobs.

Al-Anbaa newspaper’s sources revealed that Kuwaitis who have resigned from government positions must wait until the 21st of June before they can register in the government employment system, during the system’s 87th period opening.

Sources explained that neither the Civil Service Council nor the Civil Service Commission will issue a decision to prohibit the registration of Kuwaitis who have resigned from government positions in the central employment system.

Responding to a question about reducing the waiting lists for employment, the sources stated, “The absorption of government agencies has decreased for certain specializations and is nearly non-existent for others.

The registration criteria remain unchanged, and concurrently, there is a need to reduce the lists of individuals registered in the central employment system.

This includes individuals with university specializations that are not in demand in the labor market and those with qualifications below a bachelor’s degree, requiring attention to prevent an increase in waiting lists.

Sources stated that the optimal treatment in the foreseeable future occurs in two steps: the first involves rehabilitating these individuals through training courses akin to intensive study rather than regular courses. The second step is to focus efforts on training for basic specializations and jobs that young people are not inclined to accept.

Regarding the implementation of rehabilitation, sources deemed it feasible but requiring a budget. They pointed out that the current training budget is allocated to employees and not to new graduates seeking employment.
