Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, the Minister of Health, inaugurated the Kuwait Conference on Dermatology, Laser, and Cosmetic Medicine, running until February 8 at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, with global experts in attendance, Al Rai reported.
In his opening speech, Minister Al-Awadhi stated that skin diseases are a priority for the Ministry of Health, which remains committed to keeping up with the latest scientific and technological advancements in diagnosis and treatment. This includes the medical use of lasers, the expansion of specialized clinics, and the enhancement of services to ensure faster and more efficient delivery while also focusing on the development of human, medical, and technical resources.
He emphasized the ministry’s strong support for external scholarship programs for Kuwaiti doctors pursuing postgraduate studies at prestigious universities, as well as the Kuwaiti Board Program for Dermatology in collaboration with the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations.
The minister also reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to improving medical infrastructure, reducing waiting times, and enhancing the efficiency of specialized clinics to better serve both citizens and residents.
He noted that dermatology departments provide services to over 500,000 patients annually across various ministry-affiliated treatment facilities. Additionally, treatment services have been strengthened with the introduction of advanced technologies such as laser therapy and phototherapy, along with globally approved, innovative medications.
Scientific discoveries and laser applications
He noted that this conference provides a valuable opportunity to highlight the latest scientific discoveries and laser applications. It also serves as an important platform for exchanging expertise and experiences, emphasizing that such scientific forums align with the Ministry’s strategy to enhance service quality and efficiency to meet international standards.

Meanwhile, Dr. Atlal Al-Lafi, the head of the conference organizing committee and the president of the Kuwait Society of Dermatologists, stated that the conference comes at a time when dermatology is experiencing unprecedented advancements—whether in scientific research, innovative treatments, or modern laser and cosmetic medicine techniques. Thanks to the efforts of its members and partners, the association has achieved significant milestones, particularly in organizing specialized scientific conferences and workshops in collaboration with esteemed international institutions.
She added that the society has also achieved remarkable success in launching advanced training programs for doctors, enabling them to use the latest therapeutic and cosmetic techniques. It has also contributed to the development of health policies related to skin diseases in Kuwait and initiated awareness campaigns to promote skin care and disease prevention.
