Kuwaiti delegation discusses port security cooperation during Bahrain visit

A delegation from Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior, representing the General Directorate of Airport Security, visited Bahrain on Sunday to explore avenues for strengthening joint cooperation and improving port operations.

According to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the visit was marked by a meeting between the Kuwaiti delegation — led by Acting Director-General Brigadier General Bader Al-Shaya — and Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs.

Sheikh Hisham welcomed the delegation, praising the deep-rooted fraternal and historic ties between Bahrain and Kuwait. He affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation, especially in areas related to port security and administrative coordination, in line with shared strategic goals.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and best practices to enhance institutional performance, keep pace with digital transformation, and improve services for citizens and residents.

Discussions focused on developing mechanisms for managing port operations, streamlining procedures for the entry and exit of travelers, and improving the overall efficiency and security of port services.

The Kuwaiti delegation also conducted field visits to several key facilities, including Khalifa Bin Salman Port, Bahrain International Airport, and the King Fahd Causeway. These visits provided insights into operational workflows and the advanced technologies used in port and border management.

The visit comes within the framework of continued collaboration between GCC member states’ interior ministries, reinforcing regional security integration, enhancing joint Gulf efforts, and promoting effective partnerships in areas such as port management and border facilitation.
