Kuwaiti attempting to break into a car to fund drug habit caught in the act

Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have taken into custody a Kuwaiti man who is in his thirties for attempting to break into a vehicle in the Salwa area, putting an end to a string of thefts and violent robberies allegedly committed to finance his drug addiction.

According to a security source, the arrest followed an increase in car thefts and robberies reported in the Salwa and Salmiya areas. Investigators launched a thorough operation and were able to identify the suspect, who was already known to authorities for previous drug-related offenses, reports A-Anba daily.

After putting the man under surveillance for 48 hours, officers set up an ambush, and caught the man in the act. He was in possession of several stolen items at the time of his arrest.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to stealing car contents and robbing Asian residents in order to secure money to buy narcotics. Following his confession, he was referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
