Kuwaiti athletes poised for Paris Olympics opening ceremony tomorrow

Saad Al-Faqan from rowing and Youssef Al-Shamlan from fencing will proudly carry Kuwait's flag at the opening ceremony, as the nation joins the world in celebrating the spirit of the Olympics.

• Kuwait’s athletes to participate in various events, including fencing, rowing, swimming, shooting, sailing, and athletics.

• Visit by Vice president of Kuwait Olympic Committee, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Faisal, to the Kuwaiti delegation to review preparations.

Kuwait is gearing up for the grand opening of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, scheduled for tomorrow, Friday.

The Kuwait Olympic Committee has made a proud announcement: Saad Al-Faqan from the rowing team and Youssef Al-Shamlan from the fencing team have been chosen to be Kuwait’s flag bearers at this prestigious event. The Games will continue until August 11.

As the opening ceremony approaches, Kuwaiti athletes are immersed in finalizing their preparations, reports Al-Rai newspaper.

Official training sessions have been organized by the Paris 2024 committee for all participating athletes.

The competition will kick off on Saturday for Kuwait, with Youssef Al-Shamlan participating in the fencing preliminaries.

Saad Al-Faqan will also be in action, competing in the rowing preliminaries.

The following week, on July 28 and 29, Kuwait will see continued participation. Saad Al-Faqan will once again represent the country in rowing, while Lara Dashti will compete in swimming and Khaled Al-Mudhaf in trap shooting.

The sporting action will continue on July 30 with swimmer Mohamed Al-Zubaid participating in the 100m freestyle event.

Sailor Amina Shah will also be representing Kuwait throughout the Games, with the athletics events marking the final stage of Kuwait’s participation.

Yaqoub Al-Youha will compete in the 110m hurdles and Amal Al-Roumi in the 800m race on August 4.

In a show of support and encouragement, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Faisal, the Vice President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, visited the Kuwaiti delegation at the Olympic Village upon his arrival in Paris.

He held a meeting with the delegation’s director, Captain Ali Al-Merri, and the entire technical and administrative team to assess their preparedness for the upcoming competitions.
