Kuwaiti Army explores broader use of Bayraktar drones in military and civil sectors

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Kuwaiti Army, Major General Pilot Sabah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, chaired a high-level coordination meeting today to explore expanded use of the Bayraktar drone system for reconnaissance and monitoring purposes. The meeting brought together representatives from various military and civilian agencies.

Discussions focused on mechanisms for regulating reconnaissance flights of the Bayraktar drone and maximizing the value of its outputs across multiple sectors. The aim is to enhance monitoring, improve field responses, and strengthen Kuwait’s ability to address evolving security and environmental challenges, reports Al-Rai daily.

Participants reviewed the drone’s technical specifications and advanced systems, assessing opportunities to employ its capabilities in both defense and civil domains—ranging from border surveillance and infrastructure protection to environmental monitoring.

Major General Al-Sabah said Bayraktar’s utility goes far beyond military applications and called for a unified and integrated approach among state institutions to fully leverage this technology, describing the drone as a “qualitative leap” in surveillance, tracking, and rapid-response capabilities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, he directed all relevant agencies to actively utilize the Bayraktar in supporting missions related to national security, environmental control, and public safety. He emphasized the need to optimize this resource for effective response to emergencies and improved monitoring of vital sites and border areas.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Army, Ministry of Interior, National Guard, Public Fire Force, Ministry of Public Works, Kuwait Municipality, and the Environment Public Authority.
