Kuwait, UK sign three agreements during second round of Strategic Dialogue in Kuwait

Both sides expressed their eagerness to hold the third round of the strategic dialogue next year in London, continuing their path of strategic cooperation and partnership.

The second round of the strategic dialogue between the State of Kuwait and the United Kingdom was held today in Kuwait City, marking a renewed commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across various fields.

he talks were led by Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

Minister Al-Yahya opened the session by conveying greetings on behalf of Kuwait’s leadership, government, and people to the UK, praising the historic depth of relations between the two nations.

He highlighted that while official diplomatic ties date back 126 years, the friendship stretches over 250 years, beginning with trade links established in 1775.

Al-Yahya recalled key milestones in the bilateral relationship, noting cooperation in areas such as security, defense, investment, education, healthcare, and cultural exchange. He emphasized the UK’s longstanding commitment to supporting Kuwait’s sovereignty and security.

The Kuwaiti minister also commended the level of coordination and understanding between the two nations at international forums and expressed his hope for further expansion of this cooperation.

In response, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy reaffirmed Britain’s pride in its strategic partnership with Kuwait. He expressed a desire to deepen collaboration across trade, investment, defense, and global security, while building on the high levels of cooperation already achieved.

During the dialogue, the two ministers discussed key regional and international developments, including the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and other issues of mutual concern.

They also explored ways to enhance multilateral cooperation and expand joint initiatives in response to global challenges.

The meeting concluded with the signing of three significant agreements, underscoring the shared vision of both nations to enhance collaboration and serve mutual interests. These agreements mark another step in the enduring relationship between Kuwait and the UK.
