Kuwait, UAE thwart drug trafficking scheme
Continuing their joint efforts to combat the menace of drugs and psychotropic substances, the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the General Administration of Customs and the United Arab Emirates, achieved a significant breakthrough in intercepting a large consignment of illicit drugs.
The Criminal Security Sector, through the General Administration for Combating Drugs, successfully apprehended two individuals attempting to smuggle approximately one million tablets of criminal Lyrica through Kuwait International Airport, reports Al-Jarida daily.
Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to ownership of the seized contraband and revealed plans for trafficking and abuse, involving a third party outside Kuwait.
Prompt coordination with UAE authorities led to the arrest of the implicated individual, who was found in possession of an additional 2.75 million Lyrica narcotic tablets.
The Ministry of Interior expresses deep gratitude for the swift and decisive collaboration demonstrated by UAE counterparts in this operation, underscoring the importance of regional agreements in combating transnational crime.
