Kuwait, UAE sign agreement to protect data in joint security projects

Kuwait has issued a decree approving the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Protection of Data and Information Exchanged in Joint Security Projects with the United Arab Emirates, which was signed in Kuwait City on June 3, 2025.
The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in safeguarding sensitive data while balancing security needs with regulatory requirements.
The MoU comprises 12 articles and seven annexes. It outlines the scope, objectives, and obligations of both parties in protecting exchanged information and establishing procedures for reporting data breaches.
The annexes cover mechanisms for projects including bilateral network connectivity, the development of an electronic traffic violation system, linking traffic systems, transferring and refunding traffic fines, and the electronic exchange of data and fingerprints of deportees and unidentified individuals.
The agreement represents a significant step toward enhancing joint security operations while ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of shared data between Kuwait and the UAE.
